Many of the schools we support in Haiti, have been destroyed. Sopudep school has to purchase new property altogether. Meanwhile, teachers are not being paid, though they volunteer in the survivor camp near the old school. Hunger is a huge problem. Children's Hope was able to buy food last month, but more funds are needed.
Whenever we are able to make on on-going commitment to a clinic or school, they are better able to provide staff and care for the children.
Our favorite clinic is "Lamp For Haiti" in Cite Soleil...they are up and running! We were able to bring in meds within a few days after the quake...even before the Red Cross.
